Dang nut allergies - what to use instead of walnut oil and pine nuts
Two members of my family are extremely allergic to walnuts and pine nuts - all nuts, in fact. But not sesame or coconut - could these be used instead?

There are some easy swaps here. For the walnut oil, I'd swap in any neutral oil like a high quality vegetable, avocado or grapeseed oil.
I think some toasted sesame seeds would be a great swap. You could also toast some panko bread crumbs in butter with a bit of salt and throw those on at the end.
Hope this helps!

Sesame oil is both expensive and often very strong in flavor, so used more for garnishing after cooking, in small amounts.
Don’t know about coconut oil as a replacement.
For pine nuts - use something that will give a bit of crunch, maybe protein and/ir starch. Peas, peanuts (legume, so maybe tolerable for those with nut allergies), roasted garbanzos or chestnuts (again, check the category… more a starch than a nut).
